Koi Pond Reconstruction in Colchester

It has been a long, cold, lockdown winter. But we have still been working hard. Our clients have patiently waited through rain, ice, wind and some snow for the transformation of their Koi pond to emerge in spring. The pond has been made bigger with new lining and natural sandstone coping stones. A brand new bespoke pergola over the top, handcrafted by our own MD Brad.

The pond was completely deconstructed, and the bricks cleaned and put aside for reuse. New block work was built, and the old weathered bricks that blended perfectly with the garden were rebuilt as facing bricks.

Once the main pond construction was complete, new heavy-duty geotextile was heat seamed into place, and a new EPDM rubber liner was installed.

New Raj Green sandstones were hand-cut into place, ensuring all the slabs were even, with uniform pointing gaps between. This method does take time, but the end result is such a better finish. If coping stones are not put in with care given to the final details, then it really can show up on the final product.

Utilising the existing filtration system, new pumps and an amalgam UV was added.

The fish are due to be relocated into their new home on Good Friday.
